A New Addition

I call her Seraphina. She’s a little different and nowhere near as old as the others I’ve collected, but there’s something so unnerving about her that I had to rescue her from the op shop. I found her in the back corner of the store on a shelf behind some old teddy bears. I dusted her off, paid the $4.00 they were asking and took her home.

There are dolls featured in the book I am editing—antique dolls that have been long buried in a chest in the attic. They’ve recently been discovered by one of my characters and hold a secret that’s important to the plot. I never quite grew out of the love I had for dolls as a child but now, the ones I buy (or the ones that find me) are a lot different to the ones I once received for birthdays and Christmas. These newer (old) dolls inspire a lot more stories than the old ones.

I'm not going to lie . . . when I opened up google-reader, and this post came up, that picture creeped me out. At first, I thought it was a little girl; you don't know how relieved I was to discover it was just a doll.

I used to love dolls, too. I think part of me always will, and I can't put my finger on why.

Not sure I want to.

But they are also extremely creepy.

(Wait, maybe I just answered my own question.)

I think that amount of sinister for only $4 is a great deal. Hope she provides lots of inspiration for future stories, Danielle!

Chadwick, she unnerves most people when they see her in person too.

Katey, there's just something about them, isn't there :)

Alan, I'm sure she'll provide a lot of inspiration.

Well now that's creepy. I've never been able to stomach dolls. My wife has one in our basement storage area, wrapped in plastic. I'm afraid it will wake and want revenge for making her suffocate in plastic.

Yikes.

Oh, I can just imagine her lying there, eyes blinking every so often, waiting for her chance to escape.
