My Muse & I

My Muse and I aren’t seeing eye to eye at the moment.

It was with the best intentions that I set out to work on the novel on the weekend, however, a short story came to me on Saturday morning. I got down a basic first draft of which I’ve titled The Hell of St Augustines and I’ll go back to it later. I had quite a few things on for most of the weekend and couldn’t get back to my writing as much as I wanted to but I had my trusty notebook on me and could be found scribbling away, making notes for the endings for both The Ivory Tea Monkey and The Little Drummer Girl. I hope to have all three stories done and dusted by the end of this week and next week concentrate on the novel. There, a set plan!

I know I should try and train my mind to be more disciplined because god knows, if I ever got a book contract I’d be under the hammer to finish it and wouldn’t be able to let my mind wander waywardly. Right now though, I can’t help but allow myself to get sidetracked so that I can get all of these stories down. I figure at least if I’ve got the drafts down I can go back to the editing – provided that I do go back of course :)

Go on over to The Foliate Oak to read Watching the White Blossoms by Aaron Polson - http://www.foliateoak.uamont.edu/archives/may-2009/prose/watching-the-white-blossoms-by-aaron-polson

CURRENTLY READING: Evernight by Claudia Gray

My muse will do that, too...stubborn muse. Thanks for the mention!

I'm with Cate, that sounds interesting and I am glad to know that my mind hasn't been the only one that can't keep focused lately.

When my muse and I don't see eye to eye, I apologise and move on. :/
