The Good: I’ve been accepted as a member of the Australian Horror Writers Association. Am very excited to be a part of this group and what I’ll get out of it and hopefully be able to give back.
The Bad: I received a rejection for The Witching Hour from Midnight Echo. I allowed myself about half an hour of pity time before I submitted it to Darkened Horizons. Will see how it goes there.
The Holiday: I don’t have any vacation plans this year, no overseas jaunts in the pipeline :( (I miss traveling) or shopping trips to Melbourne, so I’m thinking I might use some of my annual leave days, maybe one a month, purely for writing. I’m excited just thinking about it – a whole uninterrupted weekday without having to scramble for an hour or two here and there in order to write.
CURRENTLY READING: Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer. This Twilight series is strangely addictive.

Welcome to AHWA! Make sure you enter all the members comps and use the discounts on magazine subscriptions to get your moneys worth. Then there is the interaction and possibility of the critique groups and mentoring. And don't forget the market hive administered by yours truly. It may be worth your while to subscribe to the Southern Horror group as well. That's where most of us hang out.
Commiserations on ME. But now you can download the first issue and see what was accepted so you have a leg up on your next submission.
Yay on the writing days. Personally I just write at work, but I'm lucky that way.
Congrats on being accepted into the AHWA. I am dying to join the HWA, but I want do do so as an active member so I need one more pro sale. I need to move to Australia as the AHWA sounds like a fantastic place to hang out.
Way cool on the AHWA! I am not a member of any writing group at the moment (accept our little circle of friends). Sorry about the rejection. I am awaiting one from them any day now. :) Come on, take a trip to beautiful sunny- Iowa! We are more than corn and pigs.
Thanks BT, I'm checking it all out. So much new stuff to discover.
Catherine, you should definitely come out here and hang out. It would be great.
Jamie, I hope to get to the US in the next few years so I'll be sure to swing by Iowa.
